No trip to Australia is complete without spending at least a few days in the great state of Victoria. Victoria is not only home to the truly cosmopolitan city of Melbourne (which also happens to be the state capital), but it is also home to some of the most interesting tourist attractions around. Whether you are interested in visiting natural hiking trails and parks or are looking more for attractions along the lines of theater shows, ballets and casinos, Victoria definitely has something to offer you.

Victoria is roughly triangular in shape and located on the main Australian continent. The Melbourne airport is an international airport and services not only national and regional carriers, but also international carriers from countries all over the world. Many different airlines have partnerships with the Melbourne airport and as far as international airports go, it is one of the busiest around. In addition, the state of Victoria has a port that receives passenger liners on a daily basis as well as a very well constructed road system that is easy to navigate and travel; the tourist is not stuck for options when traveling into or around the state of Victoria.

Of course, many people that tour Victoria will spend a large amount of that time in Victoria’s capita city of Melbourne. With roughly four million people within the city limits, Melbourne is the second largest city in all of Australia and has the urban amenities one would expect with those statistics. There are a number of great nightclubs for people looking to party as well as a number of theaters for people that are looking for a more subdued experience. To people that want some of each, why know visit the Crown Casino? It is the largest casino in the Southern Hemisphere and many of the world’s most famous gamblers call the Crown home.

If you get tired of Melbourne and the urban vacation, then you are only a short way away from the Yarra Valley; one of the world’s premier wine growing areas. It is only about an hour’s drive from the center of Melbourne and you will be treated to a lot of interesting information and beautiful sights as you tour the winemaking areas of the valley itself. Or alternatively, there is also a drive out to Phillip Island up for grabs, where you can see baby penguins march up to their nests to roost. Whatever you are looking for in your tourism getaway, Victoria definitely has the ability to provide.
